Circle Street Application

My name is Drew Waddell. I am 18 years old and from Jackson, Mississippi. I started practicing photography a few years ago and street photography a few months ago. I shoot street photography because I am a street dweller. I am always outside walking and as soon as I tried taking a camera out with me too, I fell in love. I am slowly getting more comfortable taking pictures of people, and I think my skills will grow a lot more as I continue to shoot daily. I shoot Canon Full Frame DSLR and film with the Nikon F3. I love film because it helps me challenge myself and makes me think about ever shot I take, cause it better be good cause that shit is draining my bank account. Probably the most important thing about me is that I am going to be living internationally and traveling a lot over the next 4 years with my college. I study Global Studies, so I travel regularly. I have lived in Costa Rica for the past 6 months, and I will go on to live in Spain, Italy, China, New York, and maybe even South Korea or Japan for 4-8 months each. I will also visit several more countries for around 2 weeks each. These include Taiwan, The United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, and likely more in between. What this means: I take my cameras with me everywhere, so by the end of college I am going to have an extremely diverse portfolio in terms of location and subject matter. I want to bring a global range of “street photography” to the collective by submitting images from where I am all over the world. I also want to polish my skills and to be put in contact with fellow photographers whose work I respect.

Here are ten images from my portfolio, and that are most representative of the work I am trying to do moving forward. You are going to find that most of the photos are not exactly typical of street photography, and that would be because I have not lived in a big city since I started. However, that will change next year. You will also find that I focus on single subjects. I also really love street portraits and photojournalism, so you may see a little bit of that style in this album as well. Thank you for considering me, Drew Waddell

This picture is imperfect to me, but I want to include it anyways because it is just one of those spontaneous moments that you are able to capture on the streets, and that is why I love street photography.
